The Sony 90mm has somewhat better MF than most AF lenses: you can put it in a linear mode where you choose the magnification and moves the lens, just like with a manual lens But for specifically macro purposes, AF is no advantage, and generally speaking, MF lenses have better MF than AF ones. Of course AF is useful for general and portrait work if you want your macro lens to be a general lens. It’s also easier to magnify the image and get exactly the part you want in focus with manual focus than moving the AF point, using AF, locking it, and then checking to make sure it was correct. Very often you will want to set the magnification and then move the lens to focus, and the danger with an AF lens is that focus may shift, even if you lock it. Auto Focus vs Manual FocusĪuto focus is not really a good idea in the macro range. This is why one of us uses a 35mm and sometimes a 15mm macro along with the more usual lengths (50, 90, 150). Shorter lenses make you feel you are an ant, right there in with the tiny items you are photographing. Longer lenses give you a flattened perspective (think of how a long portrait lens flattens faces, for better or worse). But we should not ignore the fact that perspective plays a part in macro just as it does with normal photography. Focal Length – PerspectiveĪs we have seen the longer macro lens gives you more working distance, and some say that the longer the general. I was lucky that the butterfly wasn‘t shy because I had to get really close fore this image. Since many lenses have a shorter focal length when focused very closely working distance can vary greatly between lenses of very similar focal length. In general lenses with a longer focal length have more a longer working distance. So to capture subjects like insects this is a pretty important measure. The distance between the front of your lens and your subject is called working distance. If the front of your lens gets really close to your subject you might make it flee or cast a shadow onto it. These are only achievable with specialists macro lenses that generally can only be used in the macro range. The next two magnifications are twice life size (2:1) and five times life size (5:1). The jump to life-size, 1:1 is a dramatic change in the image, it no longer looks the way it is easy to visualise with the naked eye. The series then goes to 1:2, the magnification which is the best some “macro” lenses can achieve. The series starts at 1:5 which is the kind of magnification you might get with a non-macro lens which nevertheless has closer than usual focus. Here is a series of images of a Hellebore flower to give you a sense of the magnifications. There are also lenses with a magnification ration greater than 1:1 which usually can’t focus to infinity. On a 1:2 lens your subject can be as small as 72x48mm (half life size). This reproduction ratio is called life size. A macro-lens with a maximal reproduction ratio of 1:1 used on a Sony a7 series camera will allow you to fill the frame of an object which has the same size as the sensor which is about 36x24mm. The typical measure for how small the subects you can capture will be is the reproduction ratio. Things to consider when buying a macro lens Voigtlander MACRO 110mm F2.5 APO-Lanthar.Things to consider when buying a macro lens.If possible you should always take advantage of the focus limiter. The AF speed is pretty decent as long as the camera does not wish to hunt through the whole focus range. The AF of the Sony 50mm f/2.8 macro does still rely on the classic focusing system driven by the camera (via a slotted drive screw). As you can see in the product images below the lens extends when focusing towards closer distances - this is a quite common characteristic for macro lenses although the more modern Canon and Nikon counterparts manage to keep a constant physical length here. The broad rubberized focus-ring operates quite smooth but it's also somewhat wobbly. The build quality of the Sony lens is good but in relation to its price tag there's too much plastic involved in the construction. aperture is usually too slow to be something else than a compromise solution here. You may argue that the focal length is ideal for portrait photography but its max. Its field-of-view on APS-C DSLRs is equivalent to about 75mm ("f/4"). Lens which can be used for macro and mainstream applications. Naturally it has been redesigned to match the look and feel of Sony Alpha lens series but under the skin little if anything has changed. The Sony 50mm f/2.8 macro is a further survivor from the Minolta era. Special thanks to Konrad Kandler for providing this lens for testing purposes! Review by Klaus Schroiff, published August 2008

In response to whether Sri Lanka appears to be caught up in a big power play, Mr Sabry said that the country stands in the middle and does not take sides. While the jury remains out on whether Chinese money is more of a boon or bane, Sri Lanka has attracted outsized attention not just from China, but also from India and the United States, given its strategic location in the Indian Ocean. The rest is external debt, he said, adding that it is estimated that the country's public sector debt is 128 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), one of the highest for a middle-income country. The southern Hambantota Port became another case in point - it led the country to be labelled a poster child for the so-called Chinese debt trap narrative after a Chinese state-owned operator took control of the port on a 99-year lease after Sri Lanka defaulted on its loans. So some of the other countries wanted to wait and see. He noted that the Chinese helped after the civil war in Sri Lanka ended in 2009 and the country was in need of massive investment. When asked about China’s relationship with Sri Lanka in its time of crisis, Mr Sabry said: “China's investment is very, very important because countries like Sri Lanka need investment.” Among the factors that led to the crisis was the country’s difficulties in managing its external debt, which had grown in part due to loans from China to fund ambitious infrastructure projects. If you’re really looking to make the most out of proximity chat, I highly recommend enabling push-to-talk. So I’ve been trying to rebind the alt key on my keyboard to the discord push to talk key `. I use the Keybind v Keybind and keybind ’ So when you bring this to auto hot key or logitech gaming software it means that you should be binding the mouse button to a keyboard letter, symbol or number over the NUMLOCK PAD(edited) Example 2, Using the keybind v with shift will produce Shift+v= V (ctrl and alt will also work). So Shift + NUM 1 does not mean anything to the computer. For example, NUM LOCK keys do not have any SHIFT modifiers in them they are just numbers 0-9, casting alt and ctrl keys to modify their use. The key should have Alternate Values that can be obtained from ALT, CTRL, And SHIFT. Another input issue is what exact key you are using for the mod in WOW.There may be other options that use alt, shift and ctrl that may or may not affect functionality and you should test with and without them to see what works best This includes checking the Interface setting and reviewing the Controls, Combat and Action Bars sections as they may have shift, alt or ctrl key modifiers for looting, Focus cast, self cast, pick up keys for your action bar. I use Mute Mic button with ingame PTT (for example in R6:S), so my teammates on Discord wont hear me twice. One is PTT, one is Mute Mic and third one is for something ingame. My current mouse (Ravcore Cyclone) has 3 of them. Make sure that you toggle the Push-to-Talk option, too. I always use mouses that have at least 2 buttons on the left side. Click the arrow next to the Capture Device to open the dropdown menu. Solution, unkey bind the alt, shift or ctrl keys from your keybinds. Select the Capture (mic icon) icon from the side menu to the left. you have the ALT, SHIFT, or CTRL key keybound to other keys so the input to the system gets confused and it does not register that you are using the macro over the keybind. How routinely they will be used is another story. Luckily for Honda, they’re all well-thought-out and practical for families. The Odyssey, especially the Touring Elite, has more gadgets, cubbies and gizmos than nearly any car I’ve tested. You can compare the three here.Įven as children grow into their teens, a minivan would still be the more comfortable option for families. The Odyssey’s passenger volume comes in at 170 cubic feet on EX trims and higher (it’s 173 on the LX), which dwarfs Honda’s smallish three-row Pilot, at 154 cubic feet, and the Chevy Traverse, with 151 cubic feet. Power doors on minivans like the Odyssey take that out of the equation - and would be a major factor when it came to deciding between a minivan and a three-row crossover. At 5 and 4 years old, they can climb up and down on their own, but we typically don’t allow them to open or close regular car doors on their own for safety reasons. My wife and two small children used it as our family car for five days of errand-running and weekend outings, and it was loved by all.Ī low step-in height and the power sliding doors - which come on EX trims and above - shaved precious seconds off the time it takes to get my children in and out of their safety seats. On EX trims and above, the second-row center seat can also slide forward, so an infant seat or car seat holding a smaller child can be moved closer to the driver and front seat passenger if the child will need attention.Ĭomfort in all three rows was good for the minivan class, if not exceptional. With two pairs of tether anchors in the third row, you can install a total of five child-safety seats of any variety in the Odyssey. The Odyssey passed our Car Seat Check with nearly straight-A grades, including our test of three car seats fitting across the second row. This is a huge bonus for parents with children in child-safety seats, which are often bulky. The two outboard seats can slide outward with a pretty simple, two-step motion, adding 1.5 additional inches of width. The row is composed of three separate seats that function as a single bench. However, a majority of the 2014 Odysseys in ’s inventory are EX-L trims and higher, which will have the same upscale leather seats as my test car as well as a new dual-screen layout in the center console.Īll trims, however, have probably the Odyssey’s biggest selling point for families: an adjustable second row that can expand widthwise. Testing a top-of-the-line model shades some perceptions of interior quality, as most buyers opt for lower-priced editions. On the open road, the Odyssey is quiet and comfortable, but still exhibits some of the issues you’ll have with such a low-riding vehicle, namely potholes and severe bumps hitting home harder than they would in a smaller, three-row crossover with more suspension travel. Navigating parking lots is a breeze thanks to pinpoint steering and a great sense of space granted by the driver’s view over the hood. Handling is also quite remarkable for a large vehicle. That’s the most fuel-efficient minivan on the market. That helps boost fuel economy a bit to 19/28/22 mpg city/highway/combined for all 2014 models. Previously only the top trim level received the six-speed and the rest had a five-speed. New for this year is a standard six-speed automatic transmission for every trim level. Power is plentiful, with 248 horsepower from the 3.5-liter V-6. The remarkable thing about the Odyssey isn’t its looks, it’s a relatively enjoyable driving experience for any large people-mover, not just for a minivan. Some people simply don’t want to drive a minivan because of what it might stand for, while others let the practicality of the platform influence their decision. The minivan shape, not necessarily its style, is certainly a stigma in suburbia and elsewhere, and that can be a make-or-break factor in a purchase decision. It makes for an interesting profile … and minivans don’t typically have an interesting angle to be found anywhere. Honda made some small tweaks to the Odyssey’s front and rear styling, making the nose smoother, if a little too rounded.īut what hasn’t changed is the unique lightning bolt design that carries along the three rows’ worth of large side windows. That’s the model we tested for this review, and it came in at a somewhat eye-popping $44,855. There are updates throughout the Odyssey range, but the new top-of-the-line Touring Elite is where you see the most-talked-about feature: a built-in vacuum system. After an excellent redesign for 2011, Honda’s best-selling Odyssey won a Minivan Comparison test and, more recently, our 2013 Family Car of the Year award.įor 2014, there are a few changes that improve slightly on the Odyssey’s already winning formula, but Honda was smart to not fix what wasn’t broken. They can have any range of colors and patterns, making them unique in that one Siberian won’t typically look like another Siberian. Siberian cats are magnificent for many reasons, but their coat versatility is definitely one of the big ones. What colors and patterns does the Siberian cat have? In the summer, they shed most of their coat to shave off a few pounds… RIP to your couch, clothing, and bedding. The three separate layers keep them warm in the winter. Siberians have a water-resistant triple coat, including an outer coat made of guard hairs, a middle layer consisting of awn hairs, and a soft undercoat. Though today they might protect their spot on the couch more than they protect their home from intruders, this cat is still larger than most and can be very intimidating (and intimidatingly beautiful). They are sturdy cats that are considered to be strong hunters and protectors. These cats can weigh up to 20 pounds, with females usually smaller than males. Their thick, semi-long coats also contribute to how large we perceive them to be. They are medium- to large-sized cats, but their thick, dense coats sometimes add up to 2 pounds to their overall weight. The Siberian cat is known for their wild, almost feral appearance. Americans loved these traits, and soon the Siberian was a much sought-after addition to many pet households. They are always down for a good cuddle (and we simply can’t refuse!). Despite their large size, they are agile and playful. They were unique and large, yet gentle and kind. In the 1990s, the Siberian cat finally journeyed overseas and landed in the United States. Thanks to their love, the Siberian Forest cats began to trust humans and enjoy their company. People deeply trusted and adored these cats and doted on them accordingly. These incredible felines would protect anyone who slept there at night. There are stories about Siberian cats standing guard over their property as a dog would. Siberian cats were heavily featured in Russian stories and fairytales for centuries, further cementing their mysterious legacy. These nature-made cats originated and adapted on their own. They are not like many man-made cat breeds that we know and love today, bred only 50 to 100 years ago through selective breeding. This is often the case with natural breeds because there is no exact time that you can pinpoint their breed coming into existence. The Siberian cat comes across as very mysterious. What are the origins of the Siberian cat? Though rough and tough on the outside, these cats are lovable and cuddly creatures! They are bred to survive the long winters and have done so flawlessly for hundreds (perhaps thousands) of years. This breed is a natural breed that is formally known as the Siberian Forest cat. To endure this harshness, you have to assume that the Siberian cat has adapted so well that their bodies find Siberian weather rather comfortable. With intense winters and harsh weather, Siberia is not an easy place to make your home, but this is exactly what these cats did. Siberian cats are known for their remarkable ability to survive and thrive in the Siberian climate. |
